Mill Creek State Historic Park, Mackinaw City
As the Straits of Mackinac's
first industrial complex, Mill Creek provided sawn lumber
for the settlement of Mackinac Island in the 1790s. Feel
the sawmill rumble under your feet as waterpower drives
the blade. Enjoy living history demonstrations and nature
interpretation along the scenic trails in this 625-acre
state park.

In 1770, Michilimackinac was the first stop for voyagers,
and still is. This complete working colonial village is
less than a mile from Mackinaw City. A fiddler leads you
on a tour of the grounds. Excavations are ongoing within
the stockade, as archaeologists uncover artifacts from the
original trading hub. Interpreters serve as guides for this
1700's reconstructed fur-trading village and military outpost.
Learn about fur trading as you meet British Redcoats, French
Voyageurs, Native Americans & Colonial Villagers.

Make your way up the lighthouse as a costumed guide recounts
history.
Fort Mackinac, Mackinac Island
Michigan’s only original revolutionary war
fort and has been carefully restored, with 14 original buildings.
The 1880’s uniformed soldiers fire riffles, play music
and fire a cannon salute over the harbor. Reenactments,
games, videos – even a 6-foot fife.
Historic Downtown, Mackinac Island
Mackinac Island’s 1820’s fur trade
comes to life in four historic buildings on Market Street
amd Mission Church on Huron Street. Watch hearth cooking
and creafts at the biddle House, while the blacksmith poihnds
hot iron next door. Admission is included with a Fort Mackinac
ticket.
Father Marquette Memorial, St. Ignace
Overlooking the Straits of Mackinac, the Memorial
and 15-station interpretive trail interpret the period of
European contact with the Native American inhabitants of
the Upper Great Lakes region. Open Memorial Day through
mid-September.
